I received some push back when I started this company. “Why would you do that?” was the prevalent question. Apparently I had “it all.” I retired over a decade ago from a demanding IT profession and seemingly enjoyed life and family. Why?

I retired early in 2010 to take care of someone I cared about deeply. I chose family over work and have never doubted my choice. My loved one passed away within months of my retirement leaving me without a job or purpose.

Over the next 14 years I have found that purpose and more. My continuing journey is rooted in overcoming. Overcoming the trauma of my developmental years, assorted mental health diagnoses growing out of the trauma, failing, starting over, failing again. I celebrate 43 years in recovery as a person with “mental health conditions” because back then no one really understood trauma and complex PTSD like they do today. I am a person of deep faith and choose to believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have. I spent decades struggling alone and now know that through support and community, I can not only help myself but others. No one should suffer alone and in silence as I did.

So the answer to the question “Why” is that I continue to grow and believe that everyone deserves to be heard, to know they are worthy, and most importantly - not alone.
